Bile Acids Enabling Innovation || The 13th SWCSNFFS (I)

LACHANCE

Introduction:

The number of participants in this conference reached more than 1800.189 oral reports, 446 written reports and 8 scientific lecture on the metabolism of bile acids all hit a historic record in aquatic industry. The theme of this conference is “innovation creates better future”, with 8 main topics including Nutritional requirements and physiological metabolism, Nutrition and health, Nutrition and environment, Research of new raw ingredients for feeds, Research and development of green feed additives, Processing technology of feed and feeding technique, Quality and safety of feed and aquatic products and Big data of nutrition and others, which presented the scientific research progress on aquatic nutrition and feed. The Symposium of World’s Chinese Scientists on Nutrition and Feeding of Finfish and Shellfish (SWCSNFFS) is one of most important platform and attracted considerable attention for global aquatic feed industry, which plays a great role in the development of aquatic animal nutrition science and aquatic feed industry.

Improve the ecological sustainability of aquaculture with technical progress

Prof.Dietmar Kultz

Professor, University of California, Davis

Abstract of Speech:

The service mode of aquaculture must be changed from relying on ecosystems to ecologically sustainable services through technological innovations such as circulating water systems, reuse of water resources, biological filtration, reducing feed waste, improving feed performance and genetic performance. Reducing stress is required to be improved in aquaculture operation. The key molecular target for controlling stress response and pleiotropy is preferably carried out through a combination of overall anatomy and systemic methods such as quantitative DIA proteomics. Analysis. DIA quantified proteomics students into the same data matrix as each sample, and generated by quantifying PTMs, such as overall and partial histone epigenetics, can be used to improve breeding performance.

Bile acids improve the body’s overall antioxidant capacity (SOD, GSH, T-AOC) by improving the liver health, thereby eliminating excessive free radicals, reducing the stress caused by drastic changes in physical and chemical indicators of water, such as temperature, salinity, and pH, as well as fishing operations and transportation so as to protect the health of the fish.

The past, present and future of aquatic animal nutrition and feed

Mai Kangsen

Ocean University of China & Academician, Chinese Academy of Engineering

Abstract of Speech:

Before 2010, research on aquatic animal nutrition was focused on the study of nutrient requirements, and there were few studies for the actual requirements in mid and latter period of the growth process offish and shrimp. From 2010-2020, research on aquatic animal nutrition was focused on replacement of fish meal and fish oil, which also promoted the market demand for new feed additives. In the future, aquaculture industry will provide humans with safe, healthy and delicious aquatic products with practice of precise nutrition and precise feeding management.

The materials replacing fish meal and fish oilmay cause reduction of digestion and absorption rate and the increase of anti-nutritional factors, which will cause safety hazards to feed and lead to lower feed quality. The application of new functional additives, such as bile acids, will eliminate related hazards and stabilize feed quality.

Diet and regulation and metabolism of cholesterol

Song Baoliang

Professor, Dean of College of Life Sciences, Wuhan University

Abstract of Speech:

Cholesterol is the critical element of cellmembranes, but if the concentration is too high, it may cause cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. It was found out in studies that LIMA1 is specifically expressed in the small intestine, and it interacts with NPC1L1 protein to anchor the latter to Myosin Vb, thereby regulate the absorption of cholesterol in the small intestine. In addition, the bile acids synthesized by the animal body can also promote absorption of cholesterol.

Bile acids improve the absorption and utilization of cholesterol. Cholesterol is a kind of steroids, which is fat-soluble and will be dissolved in fat particles to be absorbed and utilized. While promoting the digestion, absorption and utilization of fat, bile acids also promote absorption of fat-soluble substances, such as fat-soluble vitamins, cholesterol and other substances. Studies in shrimp experiments show that bile acids can save 20% of the amount of supplemental cholesterol, with nosignificant difference in the growth of shrimps.

Progress of research on new type protein sources for aquatic feed

Xie Shouqi

Researcher, Aquatic Animal Research Center,Chinese Academy of Sciences

Abstract of Speech:

The new type protein sources, aka non-food protein sources, such as yeast, fungal protein, bacterial protein, microalgae powder, insect powder, animal processed by-products, etc., are developed to meet the future development of aquaculture industry, and through the improvement of raw material quality, specific feed additive technology, feed processing technology, precise formulation and feeding, and aquatic product quality improvement to determine the most appropriate amount of new protein sources.
